Compare Yamaha NMAX and Honda PCX for Bali scooter rental, including comfort, monthly prices, best use cases and which model fits your trip.

Black maxi scooter and white premium scooter parked side by side in Bali

The Yamaha NMAX and Honda PCX are the two most popular premium scooter choices for rental in Bali. Both are comfortable, capable maxi-scooters that handle Bali's roads well — from the flat coastal streets of Canggu and Seminyak to the winding hills around Ubud and the longer run south to Uluwatu. They are in the same price bracket in our fleet, which means the decision comes down to riding feel, use case and personal preference rather than cost.

Quick Answer: NMAX or PCX?

Choose the Yamaha NMAX if you want a capable maxi-scooter for varied roads, longer day trips, two-up riding and everyday digital nomad use. Choose the Honda PCX if you want a smooth, premium scooter that excels at comfortable city riding, is well-suited for couples and handles longer day trips with a relaxed, refined feel. Both start at the same daily and monthly rental rate — so choose by riding style, not price.

Comfort and Riding Feel

Both scooters are fully automatic and sit in the same maxi-scooter class. Day-to-day riding on either is comfortable and unhurried — both are well-suited for Bali's mix of beach roads, traffic and occasional hills.

The Yamaha NMAX has a slightly sportier character — it feels stable and capable, particularly on longer stretches or when carrying a passenger. Riders who do a lot of varied riding across Bali often gravitate toward it for that reason. The Honda PCX has a more relaxed, refined feel — smooth throttle response and a composed ride that suits city commuting and longer touring alike. It is a very comfortable scooter that does not demand much from the rider.

Which Is Better for Couples?

Both the NMAX and PCX handle two-up riding well at this class. The NMAX has a slightly more spacious rear seat, which some passengers prefer on longer rides. The PCX's smooth ride quality is appreciated by passengers who want a comfortable, composed experience. Either is a solid choice for couples — this comes down to which riding character you prefer as a pair.

Which Is Better for Digital Nomads and Monthly Rental?

Both scooters are popular for monthly and long-term rental in Canggu, Seminyak and Ubud. They are in the same price bracket and both hold up well over extended use when properly serviced.

Digital nomads who regularly ride to different parts of Bali — Ubud for the week, Uluwatu for the weekend, back to Canggu for coworking — often choose the NMAX for its versatility on varied roads. Those who primarily ride within Canggu and Seminyak often find the PCX equally satisfying and appreciate its smooth urban feel. Neither is a wrong answer for a month or more.

Which Is Better by Area?

  • Canggu and Seminyak — both work excellently for daily riding. Traffic is manageable for either model. The PCX's smooth character suits the urban pace; the NMAX handles it just as easily.
  • Ubud — the hilly, winding roads around Ubud suit the NMAX's stability well. The PCX handles the terrain too, though longer uphill stretches are where the NMAX's character shows more clearly.
  • Uluwatu — the run south from Canggu or Seminyak is longer and partly winding. Both scooters handle it. The NMAX is particularly comfortable over longer stretches in the sun.
  • Kuta and Legian — both models are well above what the traffic here demands. Either is comfortable for the relatively flat, busy roads in this area.

When NMAX or PCX Might Not Be the Right Fit

The NMAX and PCX are premium maxi-scooters. They are excellent choices for most riders — but they are not always the right fit for everyone.

  • If you want something lighter and easier to handle in tight spaces or busy parking areas, the Honda Scoopy is worth considering. It is a compact, lightweight scooter ideal for everyday city riding in Canggu and Seminyak — easier to park, lower seat height and very manageable for beginners.
  • If you are looking for a quiet, zero-emission option for resort-area riding, the Honda PCX Electric is a different kind of scooter entirely. Silent and smooth, it is ideal for riders with reliable home or villa charging who primarily stay within Canggu or Seminyak.

The Honda Scoopy starts from Rp 220.000 per day and Rp 1.700.000 per month — the most affordable option in our fleet. The Honda PCX Electric starts from Rp 3.200.000 per month. Both are available subject to availability.

Our Recommendation: Let Your Riding Plan Decide

If you are riding primarily within Canggu or Seminyak and want a smooth, refined daily scooter — the PCX is an excellent choice. If you are planning longer day trips, covering more of Bali, carrying a passenger regularly or want a scooter that feels particularly capable on varied terrain — the NMAX is the natural fit. If you genuinely cannot decide, either will serve you well.

Both scooters are checked before handover — brakes, lights, tires and basic condition. Both come with a helmet, phone holder and vehicle documents. Availability and exact condition for your dates are confirmed on WhatsApp before you book.
